Compassion Fatigue and Burnout: Developing a Mindfulness Practice to Promote Health and Wellness for the Caregiver

In this workshop we will explore common symptoms related to compassion fatigue and caregiver burnout. We will discuss the importance of self-care, setting appropriate boundaries, boosting resiliency, and other positive coping strategies to manage common conditions that caregivers experience. In addition, the presenters will introduce hands-on tools to manage stress which include mindfulness, gentle yoga therapy, and simple breathing techniques. Please wear comfortable clothes and be prepared to “de-stress” during this workshop.

About the Presenters:

Karen Chinca, LICSW, Diplomate, Academy of Cognitive Therapy, specializes in cognitive behavioral therapy for eating disorders, trauma and PTSD, stress and anxiety, panic attacks, and depression. She is a Licensed Independent Clinical Social Worker (LICSW) with over 10 years of experience treating clients with a wide range of diagnoses. Holding a Master of Social Work from Boston College, as well as a Master of Business Administration from Boston University in Health Care Management has provided her with a myriad of skills on which is drawn to enhance the quality of people’s lives. Karen Chinca LICSW member of the National Association of Social Workers, the Academy of Cognitive Therapy and the International OCD Foundation and also a professional member of the Multi Service Eating Disorders Association (MEDA).

Alejandra Taco, CHHC is a Certified Holistic Nutrition and Life Coach and owner and founder at Holistic Health Empowerment which is geared to empower people with different abilities to improve their health and over all well being with sustainable life style changes and learn how to use food as medicine.
