I am a Licensed Independent Clinical Social Worker (LICSW) with over 10 years of experience treating clients with a wide range of diagnoses. Holding a Master of Social Work from Boston College, as well as a Master of Business Administration from Boston University in Health Care Management has provided me with a myriad of skills on which I draw to enhance the quality of people’s lives. I am a member of the National Association of Social Workers, the Academy of Cognitive Therapy, International OCD Foundation, and the International Association of Eating Disorder Professionals. I am also a professional member of the Multi Service Eating Disorders Association (MEDA).
I specialize in treating adults (ages 18 and older) who are dealing with personal and professional stress. Many of my clients have difficulty managing their lives due to mental health issues. I also work with many college and graduate students who are struggling with issues related to college adjustment, academic and social stress, and homesickness.
Prior to opening my private practice, I worked in an outpatient clinic where I treated children, adults, and families with a history of trauma. I worked with clients with an array of diagnoses, including Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD), depression, and anxiety. Boston University School of Social Work Professional Education Program granted me a certificate in The Assessment and Treatment of Psychological Trauma.
My style is interactive, warm, and compassionate. Using the strengths of the therapeutic relationship, as well as specialized skills, I am able to optimize treatment for my clients. Seeing each client as an individual with a unique set of strengths and problem areas enables me to tailor my treatment plans to address each person’s individual needs.
A strong believer in mind/body connection, I incorporate mindfulness into my practice. Research has shown that empowering clients with stress management techniques and a regular mindfulness practice help decrease levels of stress and anxiety and improve quality of life.
Feedback from my clients has shown that my supportive and eclectic approach to therapy has helped them feel better, improve the quality of their relationships, enhance their communication skills, and overcome negative patterns of thinking and behavior. In addition to traditional psychotherapy, I use Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) extensively in my practice. Helping clients change the way they think and feel will help alter dysfunctional thought patterns and behaviors, improve their mood, and ultimately enable them to lead more productive and enjoyable lives.
I received a certificate in CBT from Boston University. I enhanced my expertise in Cognitive Therapy by becoming a Certified Diplomate of the Academy of Cognitive Therapy, a world-renowned association founded by leading clinicians, educators, and researchers in the field of cognitive therapy. I am also a graduate of the International OCD Foundation’s Behavior Therapy Training Institute.
In addition to working with my clients, I enjoy sharing my knowledge and experience with my colleagues and other professionals by conducting professional workshops on CBT, trauma, eating disorders, and self-harm.
